Parking Meter Advisory Team

In December, 2009, Mayor Michael B. Coleman formed the Parking Meter Advisory Team to review proposed strategies for changing the pricing, duration and deployment of parking meters in the City of Columbus, which presently number 4,215 on public streets and in select public parking lots.  For more information, click here

Parking Fine Changes Presentation to City Council-June 2012

On June 13, 2012, Public Service Director Mark Kelsey and Mobility Options Division Administrator Randall Bowman presented a plan to change a select number of parking fines.  The plan comes from a request from Hilltop residents to enforce prohibitions against vehicles parking over a curb or in a tree lawn.  In addition, a new parking fine is proposed to prohibit vehicles parking in bike lanes.

Since 2009, Public Service has engaged the general public, including business owners, in efforts to make our parking policies and procedures more customer-friendly.  The Parking Meter Advisory Committee in 2010 included business owners in the Short North, on East Gay Street and other locations.

Scooter Moped Motorcycle Parking Permits

Motorcycles, mopeds and motor scooters may legally park anywhere cars and trucks park according to current City Code. More than one motorized two-wheeled vehicle can park in the same metered space as long as meter payment is made.
